    Jack Bartlett Whiteside, formerly of 39 Caledonia Street, Stratford, passed away at the People Care Centre, 198 Mornington Street, Stratford, on Sunday, July 26, 2009, in his 88th year. Born in Stratford, he was a son of the late Thomas George Whiteside and Leila Selina (Size) Whiteside. Jack served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces and was a Bandsman with the RCR and Central Command Band. In his early years he was a member of the Stratford Boys Band. He was a member of Ontario Street Baptist Church and had served on church council as well as sang in the church choir. Jack was a driving instructor for 22 years with Perth School of Driving. He was also a figure skating judge for over 28 years and was one of the original designers of the Avon Trail. Beloved husband of Amy Gladys (Waterland) Whiteside whom he married on June 19, 1943 at Memorial Baptist Church in Stratford. Dear father of Lenor Anderson and partner David Steinfath of New Hamburg and Esther Brown and husband Patrick of Cayuga. Dear grandfather of John Brown and partner Amanda Wilkins, Esther Anderson and partner James Oleksinski and Murray Anderson. Dear great-grandfather of Mancer Brown, Jenna Brown and Tristin Oleksinski. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Carmen Whiteside of Quebec; nephews Philip Whiteside of Quebec, Gordon Conroy and partner Joanne and Robert Stooke and wife Erika and nieces Bette McKone and husband Alan, Ann, Claire and Carla Whiteside. He was predeceased by one brother George Whiteside and one sister Audrey Conroy. Relatives and friends may call at the Heinbuck Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Andres Kaups will officiate. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. Memorial donations may be made to Ontario Street Baptist Church or People Care through the funeral home.
