    Harold Fraser
    September 22, 1925 – January 6, 2018
Harold was born near Bancroft in Dungannon Tp. on the family farm.  His father (John) and grandparents had emigrated from Scotland in the 1850's and were granted land there.  His mother Siviva McDonald was born near Hybla in Monteagle Tp.  He had eight brothers and sisters: William(Bill), Eliza Marjorie(Marjorie), Arnold Alexandria(Alec), Windsor, Annie Christena(Tena), Donald(Don), Mabel and Carl.
Harold accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart as a child while attending the Lakeview Gospel Hall near his home.
On the farm he learned many skills which he used throughout his life.  He was good with horses and spent time logging for Whitney Martin, and went west for the harvest in the prairies when he was fourteen.  He spent time at the Experimental Farm in Ottawa but then landed a job in Ottawa Hydro working as a lineman. Despite being on call for this job he regularly helped his brothers Don and Carl on their farms in the area, often driving cattle to Montreal to the sale.
He married Vivian Florence Goodkey on October 27, 1950 and they had one daughter Katherine Vivian.  Harold built a house in Manotick but when he retired, he and Vivian moved to Bancroft where they stayed for many years.  On February 22, 1992 Vivian died after a struggle with cancer.  Harold stayed on in Bancroft where he had much support from family and friends.  Harold then decided to move to Orillia to be near his daughter and her family and after a few years in his own apartment moved in with Chuck and Katherine since their family was growing and moving out on their own.  He was a big help with meal preparation and yard work.  The summers were spent at his cottage on Papineau Lake where he enjoyed being the sheriff.
Harold has four grandchildren, Charles, Katelyn, Krista and Fraser.  He has nine great-grandchildren.
In the fall of 2016 he became ill at the cottage and was hospitalized in Barry's Bay.  On return to Orillia he was kept in the hospital for an operation.  On release from the hospital his mobility was reduced and his Parkinson’s symptoms worsened so he moved to Spencer House long term care facility in Orillia.  He was well cared for there and enjoyed the music program and kidding around with the staff.  He passed peacefully on January 6, 2018.
