    Eckmier, Ethel Irene – age 87, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Cedarcroft Place and went home to be with Jesus on Friday, November 9th, 2012. Dear wife of Carman Eckmier of Stratford for 68 years, and loving mother of Paul Eckmier (and Deborah) of Kitchener. Survived by her grandchildren; David (and Kara) Eckmier of Waterloo, Jonathan (and Debra) Eckmier of Breslau, and by Timothy Eckmier of Toronto, along with great-grandchildren Leah, Lyla and Dawson Eckmier. Dear sister of Harold Gilbert of Stratford, Ellen Fangrad (and David) of Stratford, and sister-in-law Grace Uloth (and Dieter) of Stratford. Also survived by nephews Brian (and Sharon) Sylvester of Stratford and Gilbert Sylvester. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Ellen (Norris) Gilbert, stepmother Mabel Parke, sister Reina Dunseith and brother John Gilbert. She was like a second mother to the children of Dr. Doug and Val Thompson of Stratford; Spencer, Stephanie and Reagan. She served her Lord faithfully over the years as a member of the former Congregational Church, Elgin Missionary Church, and Tavistock Missionary Church. Visitation will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home , 430 Huron St., Stratford on Tuesday November 13 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow. Immediately following the reception, interment will take place in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
