from tape..
Tip would come up to visit Ivy while working in the greenhouse by radial car. Tip's mother and the job began to be a problem and Tip decided to live at Ivy's parents place for a while. Ivy met Tip at the greenhouse one time, when she was with a girlfriend. Lisa Corry lived in that area. They wanted to make a foursome and Ivy suggested the "dark fellow". They would go to LaSalle Park every week with the other couple. Tip got a job driving for Goldburg about 6 months, delivering meat and poultry. The business was at James and Merrick street. Tip then got into an accident with the truck at Cannon and Barnesdale. A fellow pulled out and the accident broke the back wheel off the truck. Tip got away with that, but his boss wanted him to work Saturdays without pay. Tip decided that was eneough and quit.
Tip then went out to the farm at U Joes for six months. He then received a letter from his brother Reg suggesting he come to Stratford to see about a job. Worked in a Poolroom above Kennedy's Cigar store for about three weeks, then a job opened up in the CNR shops.
Tip worked with the outside gang for two or three months. In 1925 Tip gave Ivy a watch, in December 1927 Tip gave Ivy the engagement ring. Tip stayed with Rose and Reg in Stratford till he got married in 1929.
