Lois Eleanor Gilbert, age 78, of Grand Bend and formerly of Stratford passed away suddenly at the St. Marys Hospital, Kitchener on March 22, 2015. She was born in Mitchell, April 11, 1936, daughter of the late Russell and Blanche Saunders. Beloved wife of the late Lynn (Stretch) Gilbert who predeceased her September 27, 1992. Loving mother of Jen Glazier (Randy), Rod Gilbert (Tammy) and Sue Elliott-Gilbert (Scott). Grandmother of Jaime Metzger (Kevin), Shauna Glazier (Mike), Abigail, Amanda and Andrew Gilbert, Nolan Gilbert and Zachary Elliott. GG to Hailey and Jase. Also survived by her friend and companion Jim Redman, brothers-in-law Wilf Hartwig and Gerald Gilbert (Naomi) and several nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by 5 siblings Grace Spence, Marjorie Hergott, Betty Saunders, Bob Saunders and Audrey Hartwig. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, March 25, from 6-8 p.m. (Legion Ladies Auxiliary service Wednesday at 5:45pm).The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, 207 St. Patrick Street, Stratford.
