  • Helen played softball in Stratford for many years. (Kroehler's)First base. Won the Ontario Softball Championship in 1943.
    She and Don lived in Tallahassee Florida for many years and still do. Helen stayed in a nurseing home in Deston Florida. She was cremated and followed Don to Thunder Bay and was buried there.
    She was an avid sportswoman, she loved golfing, winning the Port Arthur Country Club Championship and also the Thunder Bay Championship and the Northwestern Ontario Senior Ladies Curling Championship.

    It is with great sorrow the family announce the passing of Helen Agnes Plaskett, on March 17, 2004 in Destin, Florida. Helen was born in Stratford, Ontario on May 20, 1923 to Reginald and Rose Doubrough. An avid sportswoman, she was a Kroehler Girl that was ateam player of the Ontario Softball Champions of 1943 for Stratford. She married the love of her life Donald on June 28, 1947, who predeceased her on March 15, 2003. Helen loved golfing, winning the Port Arthur Country Club Championship, and the thunder Bay Country Club Championship. She also was a third for a rink that won the Northwestern Ontario senior ladies curling championship. Another passion of Helen's was bowling where she won many tournaments, including a perfect game at Superior Bowladrome in 1972, in which she was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. Helen will also be remembered for her fine craft's and art. Her love of animal's and family. Helen is survived by her daughter Rosemary (Bill Stewart), Whitehorse YK and son Steve (Charlene) Plaskett, Thunder Bay, grandchildren Dylan (Stewart), Thomas, Matthew, Ryann, and Jessica Plaskett. Much loved and missed by her sister Mary Wendland, Stratford, Ontario. sister-in-law's Gail, Avis. Brother-in-law's Doug and Dave, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Cremation has taken place and Interment will be at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Arthritis Society, the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay, or the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
